Wrestling the Ages

15,000 years ago, wrestling has become of the world's oldest sport. Wrestling is a very basic sport, which involves two people and they use hand-to-hand combat. The winner is decided by which wrestler is pinned down to the ground first.
During the Olympic Games

In ancient Greece, they had a competition called the "Olympic Games". It was a variety range of many different sports including wrestling. Which was very popular with the adult male.

The difference between wrestling in ancient Greece to now the present. It would be the different type of clothing they would wear during a match. "Naked and covered in oil, combatants would contest..." (Olympic Games). " From this quote, we can refer to how the greeks would be wrestling, naked. But as we take a look into the present a wrestler usually wears a one-piece suit and also a form of a helmet for protection.

To look a little bit deeper into wrestling back in Greek time. They would get really brutal to the point where competitors' bones would occasionally break. Also, they had made a set of rules where the competitors can not go anywhere near the private parts of the other competitor.

During the Middle Ages
Then the middle ages came in to play! Where in Europe "wrestling was considered a knightly skill."(Bob Dellinger).  Bob's information seems to align perfectly because the middle ages can be considered a very posh (proper) state of an era. To add to this Henry VII and also Francis I were also part of this wrestling ordeal. But at the end of that match, it seems that Francis was the losing competitor.

To look at wrestling now, in my opinion, I'm not that really interested in the sport. But we still have the sport wrestling in our Olympic Games. We also still have it as a sport in our schools. Where both males and females can be competing.
